Incorrect Owner on a Religious Structure, who is Replying to Reviews and Advertising His Website

Hello Fellow Local Guides!

I am wondering how I report an incorrect owner. He has somehow claimed to be the owner of a religous temple owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He replies to each review and includes his website information. Does anyone now how we can report this incorrect information/spam?

Is having the rightful owner try to claim the business a way to fix it? But what happens if the rightful owner tries to claim their business when another imposter has already claimed it?

Thanks for any advice. We need to get this fixed. Here is a screenshot of one of his responses:

Hi @tamilisa

Is there an owner of the place who could and would claim and verify their rightful ownership of the pin? Then there are ways that the Business Profile team can help out.

If not, please share the Maps link to the place.

Cheers

Morten

Yes, there should be an employee of the Church who handles the Google Maps listings for the temples. I will alert them, as I am an employee of the Church (just not in the same department). So it sounds like they should still be able to go in and try to claim the “business” ( I put that in quotes because the temple is not a business like a traditional business). They will be able to verify rightful ownership.

Here is a link to the place too:

Thank you!!

Hello again, @tamilisa

It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.

Yes, your colleague should be able to do this. There are some steps to go through. But if you make sure to explain and document how the current owner is spamming in answers you should be fine. Find the relevant help here:

Once you have the ownership you can easily delete older replies.

Best of luck

Morten
