Can we have any rights to explain about that he was inactive. I have seen some members they are inactive for 2/1 years or 9 months etc… Can we have rights to remove them from the program.
Whats my opinion on it.
It was the best i think explaining them but how can we contact him. If he can’t adding photos, review’s are anything totally inactive from 1 year or 2 year what can we do simple leave it Yes. Also somebody adding a place in the middle of the road i have contacted one person and explained him “I am a local guide i am contribute new places, photos, review on google maps i have seen your shop but it’s added in the road middle Please make it correct Are i can make “Doesn’t Exist Here” to your place” this message i kept him but he can’t gived any response to me. Also i have removed (Doesn’t Exist Here) the some places which are added on the road.
@Rakshi2 We shouldn’t be policing others’ eligibility to be a Local Guide with regards to inactivity. If you see a Local Guide violating the rules, we can do our due dilligence by reporting their contribution. The Google team monitors these reports, and they also do their own evaluations. With enough violations, the Local Guides will be removed. Other than that, as long as they’re not breaking the rules, I don’t see a good reason why they should be removed. Something might happen to their personal life that’s preventing them from actively contributing. They might be active again in the future.
If you see incorrect contributions, you can always propose an edit. Please try to limit unsolicited message to other Local Guides you don’t personally know, as not everyone appreciate getting unexpected messages from random people. We should respect each other’s privacy as much as possible.
Local Guides is a volunteer activity, with no obligations to contribute.
No one have the right even to suggest that a Local Guide has to be active posting every (day, week, month?) or it will be removed from the program.
Before to remove some place only because “it is on the road” I would like to suggest you to check if the place do exist, and in case to “move the pin” in the right position. Removing a place because it doesn’t exist can cause a lot of damage, if you are not absolutely sure that the place really doesn’t exist
I fully understand that now you want to be a good and over-helpful Local Guide, but I would like to remind you the effort that we (myself and @MortenCopenhagen ) had to try to educate you. It would have been much easier for us to report your profile and get you kicked out of the program, but we want to give everyone hope.
So it’s funny to think that now you want to delete the others from the program because they are not active.
If we had done the same to you, who also posted spam in maps, we wouldn’t be here talking now. Please think about it
Sir i think this was an last warning from you to be in the local guide. Ok sir i am sorry for that.
Also i am removing the place by seeing the street view in street view the place is matched then i will move the place to the correct position. If the place is not there in the street view i will then make “Doesn’t Exist Here” From now i can’t make it.
@Rakshi2 I know you mean well. We may sound harsh at times, but that’s only because we want to help.
My sincere opinion for now, just take it easy. It’s great that you want to help. Sometimes the best way to help is to set an example for others. Which means, make sure you’re doing everything you can first to be a great Local Guide. I highly recommend reading again the following article which talk about what it means to be a Local Guide
I know you’re eager to help, but start by listening and reading what others are saying in the forum. Read and understand the articles I put above. Look in the ‘How-to’ board and check out the featured posts. As you can see as of now, two Local Guides @ErmesT and @MortenCopenhagen articles are listed there. When they make new posts / comment on your posts, read them, along with many other tips articles that others write in the board.
Using Streetview as proof of whether a business exists or not is in my view, not sufficient evidence. Here is why:
In many areas, new Streetview photos only get added years apart, so businesses can be gone or new ones started since then. So you should at least always check when the Streetview images were created. This can easily be done on a desktop. Even relatively recent Streetview images are not enough. I never add new businesses without having been there myself and seen the business/place with my own eyes and taken a photo. Being a local guide is not like a “virtual computer game” we need to make Maps contributions based on real-life experiences.
