In search of unknown lands...

The title used here is not just a mere title but a philosophy I am living in from long long time since my childhood. Probably I did not have the perfect word like this. Howevever travelling and exploring new and untouched places is something what I always dreamt of doing and since past 7 years I am living it. I have been travelled length and breadth of India on my motorcycle looking for anything that is not explored, village routes, offroad trails, forests, barren lands etc. To give an example, in last 3 years I have travelled more than 85000 km on my motorcycle especially discovering many places on the way. I document the places I visit on my youtube channel also add local places to the maps as I go. I guess if Google looked at my map timeline for the last 3 years they can easily make it out

I work as an IT professional which I love coding, however, my passion lies in travelling. Especially travelling to remote and unexplored places. When I discovered the ‘potato chip rock’ kind of structure near Avalabetta which is about 80kms from Bangalore, it became viral in weeks and now it is one of the popular tourist destinations.

Same with the Thimmappana Betta which is about 70kms away of a hilltop with a mesmerising view of twin rocks where you can take the motorcycle to the top of another rock hill. Once I added it to the maps, this place became like a proper tourist destination and now about more than 100 people visit it every month. Recently I took about 30 bikers to the same place to carry out an cleanup drive.

Since I usually venture away from city and specially to villages, there are lot of local hotels you can find where you can get local authentic food. However they never get the exposure since it won’t be on maps and not really seen from the highway for tourists. I have started adding them with honest reviews and lot of them are now getting the deserved attention and helping the local community.

One of the thing I would expect google maps to give to their local guides, is that to add the trails to the maps. Lot of trails I go are still not marked as roads on google maps so if we get to update that, we can contribute in better way. I hope they are listening.
