MANCHESTER DAY is a whole day dedicated to celebrating the culture and creativity of our wonderful city. The streets of the city centre come alive with a parade, and street activities in many parts of the city centre. You can explore the belly of a sperm whale, dance to ska music, admire the wandering gnomes and much much more.
The day is closely linked to the twinning with Barcelona’s La Merce festival - so there’s definite Catalonian/Spanish influences - and also has distinct support for the book inspired National Year of Reading - look out for book characters.
Here is the idea: not everyone can do the same things, has the same interests, or the same energy as everyone else, so we will all do our own thing for the parade and the events (though we will try to inform each other where we are so we can keep the community coherent and pal up where we can) - and take photos of everything we see - but at the end of the afternoon we will all meet together at The Bay Horse Tavern, Thomas Street, Manchester, M4 1NA where they do a cracking good Sunday Roast (other options, including vegetarian and vegan are available). Here is the map location. It’s a very short walk from Shudehill Tram Stop and Bus Station. Only a little further from Victoria.
We will meet at the Bay Horse Tavern at 5:30pm to share pictures we have taken (I’m happy to take advice on how to take better pictures from those who know what they’re doing with a camera!) and enjoy a meal together.
Manchester Local Guides is a very welcoming bunch of Google Local Guides who try to meet in person from time to time. You are more than welcome to join us for this MeetUp or any other that we do. We’d love to get to know you.
If you intend to join us, please send me a personal message just so that I can keep track of the table booking. The maximum is 12. To message me, just click my Profile Picture at the top of this post, and then the blue “Message” button.
