On 18 September 2025, the world celebrates World Bamboo Day – a day dedicated to promoting bamboo as a sustainable and eco-friendly resource. We will celebrate the day at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi Terminal 3 by a morning meetup to document bamboo-inspired designs, products, and ideas for sustainable travel.

Meetup Details:

  • :three_o_clock: Time: 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM
  • :round_pushpin: Meeting Point : Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, Terminal 3 Departure Entry Gate

Activities Plan (1 Hour):

Time Activity
6:30 – 6:35 Welcome & group introduction
6:35 – 6:50 Walk around to spot and photograph bamboo décor, handicrafts, eco-products in airport shops or display areas
6:50 – 7:10 Share sustainable travel tips with the group & upload bamboo-related photos/reviews to Google Maps
7:10 – 7:25 Group discussion: How bamboo can be used in airports & travel infrastructure
7:25 – 7:30 Final group photo and closing remarks

मेरी कन्फर्म टिकट आ चुकी थी। फ्लाइट चेंज करने के लिए बात की थी तो पता चला 79 डॉलर देने होंगे क्योंकि ये चेंज जिसने बुक किया है उसी के द्वारा होगी।

I am from Japan so I will not be able to attend.

I hope it will be a great event.

This is an essential item for summer in Japan: the uchiwa fan.
The upper one is made of bamboo.

The one below is made of plastic.

Plastic is sturdy. It will not break in the slightest.

The one made of bamboo is characterized by a gentle breeze.
It also weighs less than the plastic one.

I introduced this item because I thought it would be nice to have such an item in India, as the climate is probably hot there.

Both the bamboo and plastic versions look beautiful, but I especially like the charm and eco-friendliness of the bamboo one. :herb:
You’re right — it would be a wonderful item to have in India, especially during the hot summer months.
