A Unique Local Guides Meetup in Dhaka.
The new “Ask Maps” feature on Google Maps is now rolling out to many users. But as Local Guides, simply using a new feature isn’t enough—we want to discover how it can truly impact our daily lives and how we can leverage it to improve map data for everyone!
With that vision in mind, Local Guides Bangla is hosting an interactive, hands-on field exploration meetup.

What We’ll Do During the Meetup: Instead of a traditional sit-down gathering, we’re heading out into the field to put Ask Maps to the test:
- Feature Check & Sync: We will gather at the main venue to ensure everyone has the Ask Maps feature active on their smartphones.
- Accessible Coffee Shop Challenge: Using Ask Maps, we’ll prompt the AI to find a nearby wheelchair-accessible coffee shop. We will follow its suggested route and verify the real-world accuracy—checking route efficiency, travel time, and actual accessibility features.
- Accessible Public Toilet Challenge: Next, we will use Ask Maps to locate accessible public toilets nearby. We will inspect the site, document the condition, take photos, leave detailed reviews, and answer mapping questions to add valuable, accurate data to Google Maps.
- Interactive Exploration: We will keep Live Location Sharing turned on among participants throughout the meetup to make our mini-exploration interactive and seamless.
- Debrief & Knowledge Sharing: We will head back to the main venue at Navana Tower to share our findings, discuss the strengths and limitations of Ask Maps, and brainstorm new ways to utilize this tool as Local Guides.

Our goal goes beyond exploring a new feature. We want to test AI-driven navigation in real-world scenarios, document our insights, and contribute high-quality data to make Google Maps more reliable and accessible for everyone.
