In my local guide pages photos don't appear normally

In my local guide pages, a****ll my few weeks old photos don’t appear in full size in the center of the page, just on the left band as kind of large thumbnails. When I click on a new picture, in the center of the web page, I have a large black zone instead, with at the bottom the message “no user photos available here” and at the top my login name and round logo does not appear, is just shown the name of the place and “Photo-Year Month of taken picture”.
Years old photos are showing normally.
I saw today that my profile was restricted but I changed it to non-restricted. The problem is still present after a few hours.

Thanks for help !

Hi @sweiller

Thanks for asking.

And welcome to Connect. Nice to meet you!

To make you feel at home I suggest you take a look at Your Guide to Connect (it’s a quick introduction to our community) and feel free to introduce yourself here.

If you have questions, try using the search field at the top first. Then check the Help desk documents and What are Connect topics before asking a new question in the How-to section.

What you describe is likely because some of your photos have been taken down - probably for guideline violations.

Your public photos show normally on my end.

You have added 54 photos and only 37 of them are currently public. I can only see the public photos.

Please know that all photos should clearly show the places. You have uploaded photos to https://maps.app.goo.gl/by4k2opTMiGhShdo6 which is a parking lot. As far as I can see, none of the photos shows the parking lot. This is a problem. You should not add any photos that are not clearly showing the place.

Also, you annotated these photos: https://maps.app.goo.gl/fb5tWAkTfsdf8DpT7 and https://maps.app.goo.gl/9fPDhPoXh8F3gDjy5. This should be avoided.

The photo https://maps.app.goo.gl/9fPDhPoXh8F3gDjy5 is taken against the sun resulting in very low contrast.

I hope these tips can help you figure out why some of your photos got taken down. Otherwise, kindly take a look at my Storefront Photography series here. You can learn how to make better photos for Google Maps and how to get more photo views.

Cheers

Morten

Hi Morten,
Thanks a lot for trying to help me.
Sorry to tell you but I think my problem is elsewhere and I will reply in between lines to try further approach …

I went to the Connect Guide Line and this did not help me…

You: “What you describe is likely because some of your photos have been taken down - probably for guideline violations.”
I can’t find any violations. As a good example, let’s see this typical one I posted recently which does not show in full size (only I can see the thumbnail on the left panel), only seen in black, when clicking here

https://maps.app.goo.gl/hqSwZxWrXdijTyb8A

If it does not gives you clues as shown, for you to examine the real full size picture posted, here is a Wetranfer link of its from my PC: https://we.tl/t-rzibYR8u09

IMHO, the quality is great, it’s my own taken picture resized, it is less than 3 MB (being 1.5 MB) and it is fully related to the place 'Ein Namer" inside the Tseelim River canyon.
Please, can you check for any unseen problem ?

You: "Your public photos show normally on my end.

My intention of course is that all my local guide posted pictures be public ! I cannot understand why some I added as the other ones will not be ?

You: “Please know that all photos should clearly show the places. You have uploaded photos to https://maps.app.goo.gl/by4k2opTMiGhShdo6 which is a parking lot. As far as I can see, none of the photos shows the parking lot. This is a problem. You should not add any photos that are not clearly showing the place.”

If you open the above link you wrote, you will see that most of the pictures by others don’t show a parking as it is only the starting point of interesting hikes. Most of the pictures, including the title one, show what is seen when you hike from the parking !

You: “Also, you annotated these photos: https://maps.app.goo.gl/fb5tWAkTfsdf8DpT7 and https://maps.app.goo.gl/9fPDhPoXh8F3gDjy5. This should be avoided.”

But thoses annoted pictures are the one that show perfectly in full on my local guide! So the problem is elsewhere!

You: “The photo https://maps.app.goo.gl/9fPDhPoXh8F3gDjy5 is taken against the sun resulting in very low contrast.”

But this one too shows perfectly in full ! So the problem must be elsewhere!

Thanks again for going on helping me,

Best,
Sylvain
