In Bangladesh, local guides are gifted by Google

localguide gift Level 5/6 up

Hi,

I am Md. Gazi Salahuddin. I have been doing Google Maps for the last 2 years. My Level 7. I do regular contingency. Google gives gifts to Level 6 members. But, the local guide of Bangladesh has not received any gift for 2 years. Everyone is a little disappointed.

I would like to know from the Google officers. When will the Bangladesh local guide people get their gift.

This gift will increase the speed of work of local guides.

While we do not contribute for perks, giftare offered to Local Guides from time to time as a thank you for contributing great content on Google Maps. @GaziSalauddinbd

It is a bit sad to read that “gift will increase the speed of work”. Looks like you have a very strange idea about why we contribute on Google Maps. Please read Why be a Local Guide?

I would like to suggest you to be careful when saying that Bangladesh Local Guides never received a peek while ALL Indian Local Guides receive a perk when they reach level 6.

Please be sure that your email preferences have perk emails enabled by visiting your Local Guides settings.

For more details please read: Question about a Local Guides perk email? Read this first

@GaziSalauddinbd thanks for sharing this issue. As a local guides, everyone wants to earned or achieved gift for rewarding from local guides program. Sometimes we saw, a few countries receiving gift & most of the country didn’t. @ErmesT thanks for feedback this post & aware about this gift issue. Hopefully local guides authorities we take care about issue & take necessary steps.

Thank you very much.

@ErmesT

Explain to me. What I mean by this post is that the work of local guides would have progressed more.

Thank you for editing your post, @GaziSalauddinbd . It sounds better now that you removed some inappropriate content :slightly_smiling_face:

However, the idea behind the concept that, with perks “the work of local guides would have progressed more” still be weird, like a kind of soft blackmail â€Ļ (give me perks, and I will contribute more).

We may have a different opinion, because my own perk is a free and always updated Maps, so I am happy to contribute in exchange, helping in this way other people to find the correct information. I can understand that a perk can be nice time by time, but for me the value of a perk is irrelevant, if compared with the value that we receive for free, with our Google account.

When we signed up for the Local Guides program, we both confirmed that we have read and agree to the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions , where Perks are clearly explained.

You will probably get some perk, however please do not consider the Local Guides activity as a work. We do this because we like it

Good Luck

@ErmesT obviously I agree with you. You are right we continue to contribute not for any benefit or perks or anything, we contribute for our pleasure.

But @ErmesT with due respect I want a nice explanation that why someone gets perks and someone will not? Isn’t it a partial perk offer? Then please don’t send any perk to anyone, we should all Contribute for soul pleasure. sorry for the words again.

@TrulyBappy agree with you.

@ErmesT You are completely wrong. Let me tell you, no one works on a local guide hoping to get anything. If someone did something to get something, no one would contribute to Google Maps. Because what is given thanks to local guides is not at all appropriate for the amount of work they do. In fact, the gift is a matter of feeling good. Everyone likes a piece from Google. This is why he made his statement. And when Google has such a system, it can ask for what it deserves, in this case, I do not see anything bad. I’m sorry if I said something wrong.

@BikramDt @ErmesT There is a big error in the address where Google send perks for Bangladesh.
They address Bangladesh in India. Then it will never come in Bangladesh. Can you solve the problem?

Who you’d expect Google local guide will reconsider about gifting issues. And make us more inspired to work for local guide.

I agree about not sending perks, @TrulyBappy , however, again, I found extremely inappropriate your second reply, and this is exactly the reason why I wanted to respond to the original post (now edited).

I am not reading too much on the Achievement board, but I have seen people from several countries posting about perks. However, I haven’t seen (maybe I am wrong) any post written by an Italian about a perk, nor from many others European countries, nor from United States (Google is an American company, isn’t it?). Does it mean that in Italy we don’t receive perks? Or simply that nobody posted about that?

  • Which kind of source do you have, to affirm that “no one” in Bangladesh is receiving perks?
  • If so, can this happen because related to the already mentioned Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions ?

What you are writing here is specifically addressed to a Country that, in your opinion, is receiving perks that should be delivered to your country. This is what is not acceptable for me, we should respect all the Local Guides of the world.

However, if you think that some country is discriminated, and you have the evidence that No One in there received a perk on the latest two years, as @GaziSalauddinbd originally said, please focus the post in this. What others receive is something that is irrelevant

Hi

@ErmesT

I did not post this on purpose. I know the local guide is a volunteer. Post this to know some information.

I know, @GaziSalauddinbd

However, the words you used originally had a different meaning, so thanks again for correcting the post. Maybe editing the title would help to better understand that you are looking for information.

Here in Connect we respect all Local Guides, independently of country, religion, gender, and this is, as I already explained, the main reason to respond.

Happy Holidays :snowman_with_snow:
