Improved menu access on Google Maps for computers

I noticed some small changes in the design of Google Maps when using a computer.

The white panel on the left is new. When you wish to get to the main menu, the hamburger icon now works every time. Previously, we sometimes had to click twice to get to the main menu.

In addition, the saved icon has been added. Previously, we had to open the main menu and then pick Saved. This is a useful new shortcut for quickly getting to your lists, maps, labeled locations, and places from your timeline.

Depending on what you are searching for and clicking on, several small icons will also appear in the left panel. They allow us to go back faster than before.

All in all, I like these improvements. What do you think? Had you noticed? Or maybe the roll-out is not complete.

Cheers

The new sidebar appeared on my desktop several months ago, @MortenCopenhagen , several months before the announcement , then disappeared for a few weeks, only to reappear a couple of weeks ago.

It is quite useful for me when I am editing road, if I want to go back to a place that I edited in the same session.

Unfortunately it resets the “recent” visited places when you close the browser

Just wanted to add that we can turn the side panel on and off as seen here:
