Why why why? Google is not giving importantances to Google Guides and google guide program? Incase of Youtube and youtubers-- Google is arranging big parties, perks, benefits, money etc etc. But folks we local guides dont expect anything from google. Do this as a passion helping the people and public without expecting anything in kind. I trust google will improve there focuz on us. Hope for the best. Keep rocking.

As you mentioned Local Guides is a voluntary program and many people participate in it because they want to be able to help others via the Google Maps platform.
Sometimes, there are perks available and it will vary from time to time and from region to region. It depends on who the Google partners are. There may also be special and/or early access to Google features.

I think there is a very strong focus on Local Guides within Google @jithinjamescherian while I know the Googlers who run the LG program I also know other Googlers all around the world that I communicate with and all of them no matter where they work know of and respect Local Guides. The Local Guides program is one of the success stories in Google.
