Hi there!
Thank you for stopping by and reading my post. Here, I want to share what being a Local Guide means to me.
I do not exactly remember how I started with Google Maps but it is most definitely one of the best things I got involved with. Personally, I make a lot of decisions based on other people’s Google Reviews and I find them very helpful in having overall better experiences. I have been contributing to Google Maps for around two years now and I am a Level 5 Local Guide. I am very close to getting to Level 6, it is just a matter of me taking the time to post reviews and photos of places I have already explored.
The most important thing that I get from being a Local Guide is a sense of purpose. I feel like my reviews and pictures help other locals and visitors make better, well-informed choices. I try my best to not put any filter on my reviews or photos so that others have a clear view and an idea of what to expect in reality. I find it very fulfilling to know that my reviews are making a difference. I keep my reviews one hundred percent real and authentic so that they are more valuable to other individuals who rely on my guidance to make decisions.
As of today, I have shared 48 reviews, 17 ratings and 86 photos. My photos have a combined view count of 227,798 views. Looking at these numbers gives me a sense of accomplishment and shows me an overview of the impact that I have been able to have with my contributions.
Below is a screen clipping of one of my top viewed photos with 76,343 views. This is my review of one of the popular sushi restaurants in Downtown Toronto - Urawa Sushi.
Below, you will find a screen clipping of one of my reviews that has received 3 likes. This makes me happy as I know for a fact that 3 people found my review helpful.
Another great thing about being a Local Guide means that I can provide honest feedback which can help businesses improve on their services and offerings. It also allows business owners to interact with me and clarify any concerns that I might flag in my reviews.
I enjoy the monthly emails I receive from Google Local Guides that show me a summary of my contributions. I can see what I have shared with the world and how many people have viewed or interacted with my contributions. In a world where sometimes we feel like we do not have any impact on others, just seeing an email from Google Maps showing you how you are making a difference can be very uplifting.
Being a Local Guide inspires me to keep exploring more places and sharing more so that I can guide others to have the best experiences possible.
Thank you for reading. ?
