Images from Google Photos keep on popping up for sharing, although dismissed earlier

Hi!

I would like to ask for a troubleshooting:

As a Local Guide, from time to time Google Maps app offers a selection from my photos - synchronised in Google Photos - to be added to places. It is pretty convenient feature, and generally I love it.

Just recently however I have experienced a bug: I had some pictures I didn’t want to share as they were not connected to the specific place (eg. an Instagram photo I posted in that café), so when they popped up in the Maps app I simply dismissed the “card” instead of adding the photos to the place (the café i’ve been in). Then later on, the same notification, with the same card, to share the same photos kept on reappearing in the Maps app, despite of being rejected already many times before.

Is there a way to mark these photos, that are not connected to a place, permanently as rejected?

Anyone having the same issue?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

What you can do in this case is to turn off the notification by following the steps provided in this article.

In addition to that, since what you shared is not an idea I am moving it to the How-tos topic label where it fits best.

Actually I have no problem with the notifications themselves, I find them quite helpful usually, as they propose images from my photo cloud I haven’t used yet. Also the location tagging is quite accurate usually.

My problem here is with the same card reappearing - although I have dismissed that proposal earlier. Fortunately it got a bit better since, as it haven’t popped up again yet. Maybe machine learning just needed 5 more pushes

We are glad that it stopped for now, but if it happens again it will be great if you can show us a screenshot of it. That way it will really help us to investigate further.

I have made a screenshot a while ago, that I can attach now. Maybe it’s connected, but recently I noticed another, similar phenomenon: a notification pops up on the mobile to upload images to Google Maps from my Google Photos, but opening the notification an empty screen opens with no suggestions.
