I'm now on Level 10šŸ…

I’m proud to inform you that I crossed the Level 10 threshold two days ago!

I add a visual with some of the key measures incl. my most viewed photo I shot last May in Bern.

I don’t want to miss the opportunity to share a few learnings I made in the last few months.

As many of you might have noticed the issues around Google Maps with regard to performance and updates of photo views, just to name a few, doesn’t make contributing easier.

With the majority of points generated by my over 14’000 photos, my biggest problem was the time it took to look up a place on maps to upload photos from my smartphone (OP7Pro). Once uploading it took too long to finish the uploads and often it didn’t work.

Only a few weeks ago I realised that when using my Google Chromebook and Maps’ web version everything worked smoothly and efficiently. For this you need to have synchronised photos in Google Photos which you can upload from your notebook.
The other productivity booster was adding several photos to a place in one go, especially when there are multiple companies at the same address, e.g. in a office building. I do this by looking up the address on Maps which then lists all businesses at that address. Then you can look up those entries and upload the photos for each entry under the same address.
By this approach I was able to make around 16’000 points in just about 3 weeks. Of course I also had to shoot photos at those locations. Luckily there a number of them in walking distance from my place I live.
Let me know your lessons learned and best practices.

Congratulationss @UrsBolt . As you know the path from Level 8 to Level 9 is a long one but the one from Level 9 to Level 10 is an even much longer one. So well done on having made the journey.

Congratulations on reaching level 10.

Out of interest did you receive an email from Google to congratulate you? I never did :disappointed:

Hi there,

Indeed, I haven’t got a congratulations per email. But a reaction by a Google moderator on LG Connect

Hopefully your email will come @UrsBolt , those milestone messages are a nice thing to look back on in your inbox - hopefully it’s just me that’s affected and there isn’t a big problem at Google’s end in that they are no longer sending them for some reason. Level 10 takes a lot of work and it’s nice to get ā€œsomethingā€ in return from Google, even if it’s just an automated email :slightly_smiling_face:
