“Local Guides” symbolize my determination to conquer my fear of unknown.
Being a local guide in Taipei, I’m responsible for introducing the best place and correct information to everyone who uses Google maps. My responsibility is build on the foundation of enthusiasm and determination to conquer my fear of unknown.
- Enthusiasm : At first, I only used Google map for giving the negative reviews to those restaurants which offered bad experiences to me. But now I also write food reviews on Google map to share some awesome restaurants. Until one day, one of the restaurant gave me a feedback on Google map, then I realize that people will actually read my reviews!!! And after this experience, it motivates me to explore more beautiful landscape and introduce to the world on Google map.
- Determination to conquer my fear of unknown : I used to be afraid of facing with the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and discover something I’m not familiar. Initially, I hesitated to apply Connect Live 2020. Because I have no idea how to make a short video and how to write a local story. But when I accidentally watch the highlights video of the Connect Live 2019, at that moment, I realized that I really want to be one of the member in this project. I was deeply touched by their passion and motivation of life. “Unknown is what it is. Accept that it’s unknown and it’s plain sailing. Everything is unknown-then you’re ahead of the game. So I stepped out my comfort zone and determined to do my best to apply joining Connect Live 2020.
During last month, I’ve been through learning how to make a video and edit by myself, improving my English speaking, and also grasping the opportunity to step out my comfort zone. I’m so glad that I have make the decision to apply this project one month ago. It changes me a lot. Now I’m willing to accept the challenge I’ve never met, and I guarantee that I’ll conquer the challenge by myself.
To apply successfully and embrace life, I have to be fearless and willing to step into the unknown. There is no other way to live my life with full potential, so I decide to listen to my fear of unknown. I believe it will open me up to the world of opportunities and growth.
