#STATECHALLENGE BINGO EXPLAINED:

  1. Everyone will be given a link to their own personal randomized card with #StateChallenge answers at the time of the game
  2. The Guest Host will read a question
  3. As a group, the answer is determined in the chat window.
  4. After EVERYONE knows the answer, each player looks at their online Bingo card to see if the answer is on their card. The player will mark their online Bingo card if the answer is found.
  5. Questions will continue to be read until someone becomes the winner. The winner will either be determined by the first person to fill their card or able to create a straight line of 5 on their card. Which way to play will be told to everyone before the game begins.

Here is a YouTube with an explanation of Bingo and here for a history of Bingo.

WHY WE CHANGED FORMATS: We wanted to change the meet-ups to

  1. make it easier for non-native English speakers
  2. provide an element of chance to determine the winner
  3. enable us to easily scale to larger audiences
  4. encourage everyone to actively participate

Brilliant @Denise_Barlock

I won’t be with you on the 19th as it’s a busy weekend but I hope yo be with you for the Christmas one right in the new year. I’ll look forward to it.
I think the bingo game is a wonderful innovation as it equalises everyone’s chances and makes it more fun for everyone (including discussing answers as they occur -we learn that way). Thank you for keeping this weekly #StateChallenge going. Great to see so many friends (including you Denise and @Kwiksatik) at Guiding Stars. See you at Community Live tomorrow.

@SilvyC We did miss you so much at the Kansas meet-up! @Kwiksatik and I were kinda stunned how much the game of Bingo is not played outside the United States! It’s a HUGE game here where there are businesses built around it and folks make it their life’s hobby and entertainment. I’m excited to keep going with Bingo as our game format (at least for now) :slightly_smiling_face:
