Iftar refers to the meal time during which all the Muslims break their fast in the month of Ramadan. The iftar timing starts at the call of maghrib prayer which overlaps with the sunset.
Iftar is a delightful moment when all the family members sit together waiting for the prayer call to break their fast. Iftar is also considered by many as the feast time where many delicacies are prepared along with variety of fruits and juices. Every country has its own traditional way for preparing the Iftar meals and they do have their exclusive food menu which they cook and serve during the iftar time. The Hyderabadi Haleem and Dahi vada are very popular dishes from my home town (Hyderabad, India) and it is quite common to see them being served during the Iftar.
Dahi vada is a popular dish throughout India and is commonly prepared by soaking vadas in full fat yogurt along with the Indian spices. The vadas are made of legumes which are rich in protein.
The Arabic food “Masoub” which is a bread-banana pudding is popular during the iftar in Middle East region. The preparation of Masoub is shared in this post.
