If I contribute a review (review, picture, video) at a place, 2 years later that place closes (in reality) and is removed from Google Map. The question is: will my local guide points be deducted after that ?
Hello @VietNguyen2024 if the place listing is not only marked as permanently closed, but completely deleted, you loose the points for the review. At least this did happen to me,
However, the photos might be connected to an “Unknown place” and still public and you keep the points. Not sure, if that is always the case.
Hi @VietNguyen2024
What @WilfriedB said about reviews is correct.
Edit. I made a test after Wilfried reply and I confirm that the part here below is wrong
Hidden
But the same is also for photos and all the other contributions eventually related to that place, like answers and edits.
All the points related to a place are removed when the place is no longer in Maps
@ErmesT according my own experience the photos (not attached to a review) are not deleted and I did not loose the 5 points, instead they were either hidden (still under My Contributions, but not public) or assigned to an Unknown Place and still public.
I did see both situations in the past. In the former case (hidden photo), I deleted the photos myself after a short while, in order to reduce the ratio of private photos. Only at that time, the points were reduced.
Therefore my message is: Even if photos are “left over” after a place listing was deleted, check if they are still public and delete them manually, if they are hidden.

You are absolutely right, @WilfriedB
I just made a test by deleting 3 photos related to an unknown place. The funny part is that by doing this I lost 28 points (3 photos, 3 answers, and 10 points that I wasn’t able to identify)
So I corrected my previous reply, and I am flagging your reply as the solution.
I will escalate this situation because it is contrary to what Google says about points
Thanks for confirming @ErmesT!
I believe, about a year ago, I did read a comment here saying some thing similar to: photos can be made private (hidden), but will never be deleted, unless you do that yourself.
The “wasn’t able to identify” or not being aware when media gets hidden is very disturbing. Just yesterday, I realized again that the number of hidden photos increased by two and it took me a while to identify those
The handling of unknown places is somewhat mysterious anyway. As I said above, some photos become hidden others not. I even saw increasing views of the latter, if I remember correctly.
