When trying to add a new place many Local Guides like add one or more photos to prove the new place exists. Should the new place not get approved the photos then belong to nowhere. In your photo contribution list such photos are listed as belonging to “Unknown place” with the GPS coordinated 0,0 which is in the middle of an ocean.
If the Local Guide then tries to add it again while uploading the same photos once more, you can end up with a lot of photos belonging to “Unknown place”.
You should clean this up manually by deleting such photos from your photo contribution list (one by one). Yes, it is not fun or quick. In fact, I would recommend you check your photo contribution list regularly to remove such photos.
Or you can prevent this from happening by:
Only add a photo if Google Maps ask you for a photo after you hit the “Submit”-button.
Never upload more than one photo while trying to add a new place.
Don’t try to add places more than once unless you have new data like a website or a phone number to also add.
There are several reasons why the algorithm decide to hide a photo uploaded on a listing, even if the photo has not been made private, @100RABH_U , and re-uploading the photo will not end on a different decision, so your photo will simply be duplicate, even if not visible.
I see this is happening in some of your contributions. Even if we don’t have an official explanation about the reasons, I e spent some time studying these actions in my photos, and my conclusion is that this is happening when the photo seems to be an advertisement or a logo.
However, this is not the kind of duplicates that I was mentioning in my previous reply. I was clearly mentioning "duplicates across locations’ because this is one of the reason for removing a Local Guide from the program. Something like this, just to be clear
Yeah ! I just Googled and found in search images ie duplicate(content). I could not add the name of the copywriter in there for a reason. My experience for this is new. Here I have learned something new, mention it by adding it in the caption, or use own content related designed material.
Now what should you regret when the bird ate the field?
Connect’s have rights for photo removal case.
Your prevention of uploading photo ideas helpful. Thank you for your time.
The copyright rules for Google Maps and Connect are more strict that you suggested. Just adding a credit text will not help you out. If you read the copyright rules you should basically avoid posting pictures that you did not take yourself. So again, you need to delete the stolen photo at the top of this thread.
@100RABH_U the red sign is showing two examples of same photo added in two different locations.
I shared already, and I will share again here, the Community policy where is very clearly mentioned that "Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed."
It means that a photo can only be uploaded once, and that to share the same photo in more than one place is forbidden.
I don’t know how to tell you this in a clearer way.
