The Frellsen Chokolade ice cream palor is my favorite place to slake my summer lust for tall cones of soft ice cream, especially mixed concoctions of strawberry and chocolate. Located just a few store fronts from Paradise, a competing vendor, it is by far the most inviting purveyor of cool summer treats with an old style touch.
I stopped in, in the late afternoon, after a stroll to the beachfront on my anniversary. My spouse and I sat on a available bench just across from the darling frise which had the red shade of a valentine heart with dancing cones and a welcome sign. This, of course, was after I had gone in and bought a tasty two tier strawberry and chocolate twister. Of course, that summer is here was reason enough to go there and only there because I am product loyal. But today was the first day I was out and about again after the end of the Covid-19 lockdown, and the end of mask-wearing for those of us who have gotten two vaccinations. I am proud to say I have, and boy, is it a freeing experience to be able to walk in the sun, to take in the air and other people! Add an ice cream to this wonder of life and boy oh boy!
Most of all Frellsen is a well-established business in Lyngby and people, like me, choose it because it has that familiar, “ma and pa” touch to the service–which is quick, friendly, and connecting. Their competitor is a bit more corporate. So, if you want to take a break, get something cool and sweet, or simply need an excuse to stick your tongue out now that your mask is in retirement…go on over to Lyngby and get yourself the desert that you deserve and the service that this throw-back establishment gives. The wonders of Denmark!
