As a Local Guide, introducing my lovely State, Michigan, to the world is one of my goals. If one day you decide to visit my State this post will help you understand what season you would like to visit it, thru the activities we have in every season on #MichiganYearAround. By end of the year, I truly hope to finish them if not there will be more posts with different activities will be added next year. I highly guarantee you will put Michigan on your bucket list whether to visit this wonderful State at a certain season or come back every season.
To understand more about the activities we do during the Winter season, please read my post regarding Winter in the Mitten State. One of many activities is Ice Fishing and Sledding.
In my previous posts I talked about Ice FIshing and Sledding, in this opportunity I would like to introduce you to Ice Carving, which is a good activity for all ages. Check their website Plymouth Ice Carving Festival 2022

Maybe not much since a young age are not be able to comprehend what art is. Ice carving is more toward the adults but we can not deny that parents would love to take the children with them when visiting the location.
To make it interesting for the children, there are many activities dedicated to entertaining them there is horse riding, face painting, and a petting farm with small fees for each activity. To make the ice carving event more fun for children, the park also provides some stuffing like a unique car, frozen princess (dolls), flowers, tools inside the ice carving.

As soon as you enter the park which is designed in a square formation where pedestrians can walk on the outskirt you will be welcomed by a giant snowman wearing a top hat and smoking his pipe. The smell of hot cocoa and roasted almond will be hard to resist in a cold day visit like today. Bake warm cookies, hot fries, corn dogs, hot chocolate, hot coffee, hot cider, cold lemonade, ice-cold drins, and crunchy elephant ears are enough to tempt children and adults as well, of course!.

Every event invites many visitors, the park does not forget to provide a warm place to explore what they call a warm tent. Inside the tent, there are many businesses advertising different things you can find. The Michigan National Guard was also participated in targeting the new candidate who is curious about joining the Military.

Since the outdoor’s temperature is very low to keep the ice carving from melting this event is held in February (the coldest month of the year in Michigan). My family looks forward to this event every year. There are many ice carving events going on during winter in Michigan. The one we love to go to is Plymouth Ice Carving. It is really sad that this year is not as busy as the years before the pandemic.
This event is usually started on Friday and lasts till Sunday. Many Ice Carver from all over the world will come together to show their abilities. Much new creativity I noticed this year is by adding flowers, tools, dolls, cars inside the ice carving.
My advice is if you would like to visit Ice Carving, it is better to go in the evening the darkness from the sky will create a better silhouette toward the ice than during the day since the bright day will not add nicely to the background. Unfortunately this time I went there during day time, not the best photos I could present but I could say good enough.
Oh by the way, this year marks the 40th year of Ice Carving in Plymouth, Michigan!!!
