I work for a small town utility company and my contributions are not accepted.

I work for a small town and there are a lot of edits to be performed. I usually edit them as they come up and I find that they are sometimes not accepted. What can I do to get these accepted easier. I could easily make 10 to 20 edits, but I don’t know the process to get them accepted after they are rejected. Is there any way to make this easier on everyone. I have corrections to road names, building locations, and addresses that are way off the mark.

Thanks In Advance,

@Necromimetic There is an error, either the village is not listed on the map, or the place already exists. This time, comment on the place you added. It will appear to you first, and after a while it will appear to others when you take another phone, and you will not find the place that …

To complete what I said… which I added, either on the road you have to put a name or a picture of it, or indicate to it that the road is closed or has a private path. The important thing is to continue your charitable work, and you will find good.

Hi ,How is your solution? You can’t find a problem to contribute

Thank you, I’m glad that I’m not the only one. I’ll just have to pursue it the long way then. In the past I’ve had to save screen shots and emails, wait for a few weeks to go by, and then post on the forum to see if I can get my change to go through with the evidence.

I know that not everyone can be trusted with edits, but it would be nice to produce credentials and have a little more leeway in the town I work for with my edits.

Thank you for responding. I’m going to go ahead and start saving screenshots and emails to post on the forum. I’ve done it in the past and had good results. I just feel sorry for whoever ends up responding to my post. The last time I did it this way there were 10 or 15 corrections and I’m sure that the person who helped me felt a little more overwhelmed than they were expecting to be.

Yes, let’s take a screenshot of the screen so that the moderator here in this forum will explain to you all the problems you face

Here’s a problem that I’ve been trying to work on for over a year now to get accepted. All of the roads running North to South in our county are Avenues and all of the East to West roads are Roads. The following screenshot shows that this road is NW 100 Ave North of: 37.254087, -98.220522 is name correctly. South of that it is incorrectly named NW 120 Ave and also incorrectly named N Myrtle St. It is not named N Myrtle St until is it South of US HWY 160 which is located at: 37.24358978618199, -98.2204005343256

I also have a road that is incorrectly labeled as an avenue. Starting at 37.24358978618199, -98.2204005343256 and ending at 37.23913625330891, -98.20257892117199. What is labeled as NW 60 Ave should be labeled as NW 60 Rd since it is running East to West.

I have multiple problems like this all over town which cause issues for residents getting packages delivered. Recently we just switched over to an AMI for our electrical infrastructure and all of these incorrect labels are creating quite the headache for our utility department. Because the roads and avenues are mislabeled the pins for the AMI map are way off of where they should be. Some of them are miles off.

Thank you,

Steve

Hi @Necromimetic

Maybe I can help you.

Did you try suggesting the correct name(s) using the Desktop road editor found under Edit the Map?

What is the status of your edits? Pending or Could not verify?

When you have tried and can share screen shots of your road edit and the current status you can seek help on this in the Maps support forum.

Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation supporting the change you are proposing. Copyright-free governmental maps are probably the best proof you can attach. Deep links to streetview showing the street signs are also helpful.

Without some official documentation you will not be successful.

Alternatively, you could suggest the local authorities to partner up with Google Maps.

Google Maps has a program enabling local and regional partners to upload their geo data directly and automatically. Please learn more here: Google Maps Content Providers
Examples include municipalities and public transport providers.

This will make it possible for them to correct the street names without any problems with the filters blocking your edits.

Cheers
Morten

Thank You,

Yes I did use the road editor for all of my edits pertaining to roads. I’m showing that the edit of NW 120 Ave was Not Accepted in July 2021. There are a few other road names that have not been accepted back in 2021. The strange thing is that the two edits I mentioned in my previous post are common sense if you look at a map of the county.

I have tried the Maps support forum in the past and had some luck. I always loose the link because I only do this every so often. I will bookmark it this time and look for help there. Our street view is so outdated that the resolution is absolutely horrendous. I have city plats available, I can take pictures and upload them, but without google recognizing me as a proper authority to make edits I would still be in the same boat I am now.

I will have my city clerk look into partnering with google to see if we can make some changes for the better in our small town.

Thank you for your reply and directions on which way to proceed Morten! I owe you more than I give.

Have an excellent day,

Steve
