Who doesn’t love traveling? I love to visit historical places like museums, churches, mosques, etc. This time, I would like to share the story about my travel to Switzerland.
Here is my story, it was 2016 when I was on business traveling to Basel - Switzerland for the second time. That time I can manage my agenda effectively, I took my day off before attending the business meeting. I started my first agenda in the afternoon to Geneve to visit UN Office using google maps.
I took SBB and bought a return ticket from Basel to Geneve as I planned before. It took nearly 4 hours for a single trip but it was great so far until I came across the UN office and I found out the office is closed! And started a big rain too LOL ?.
Too bad, I just realized that I arrived on Sunday! I could not take the guided tour at the UN office as planned, so I just took some pictures around the office included The UNCHR’s Visitor Centre.
I connected to the internet connection and turn on my Google Maps and Waze. I decided to explore the surrounding area as my return ticket still a long way to go. I walked around the Palais Des Nations complex and I was thinking to visit WHO Office. It was raining and didn’t see anybody that I could ask. I started to walk, I saw some buildings and the city forests around my walk. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum, ILO Building and some other buildings.
Finally, after nearly an hour’s walk following the guidance from both tools, I found WHO office. And yes, it also closed as expected ?.
Although I enjoyed that moment, perhaps that could be better if I can contact Geneve local guides and asking their suggestion about my itinerary like @Ddimitra who just did her travel to India recently and had great support from India local guides.
Another story also in Basel, I found the museums easily but I need more than one attempt to found out some mosques in my bucket list to visit. Only one mosque that successfully found in the first attempt, after 30 minutes walked combined with the tram. The second mosque in three attempts, one attempt in my visit in 2014 and the other attempt in my another visit two years later. The last mosque although I found it only two attempts however I did it in two consecutive days, I need to take a walk nearly an hour which finally I found the mosque is just near to my office building ?.
Although I followed Google Maps and Waze directions, it’s easier for me if I could be helped by a local guides. This could be better if I contacted Basel local guides through local guides connect apps to help me find out the place that I am looking for.
Become a local guides it helps many peoples when traveling across the globe and also helps people be more productive while enjoying their travel. I wish I knew the local guides program earlier ?.
