No one now is not using google maps to find his directions, I still remember from 20 years ago when I started to use google earth and it was an amazing experience, at that time I was struggling to load the location of my house with my poor internet connectivity in Egypt. Later on google maps was there with a better quality and less struggle to load the maps with my very poor connectivity, at that time there was no so much details about places in Egypt plus there were a lot of freedom for people to add their locations without any verification or review (which was really messy and less efficient). Through the years service of google maps got improved tremendously in the performance and the quality aspects (no more misleading locations or messy data).
I continued to use google maps to find my directions and to discover the places that I would like to visit, it helped me a lot to know how to go to a certain place and what is the best route. During my travels I started even to expand my usage for google maps not only to find directions but also to locate the nearest services places (supermarkets, restaurants, doctors, … etc.), it was with a great help to see the ratings and comments from other people to assess the places and to locate the best experiences. I was super satisfied by using the service, and I thought at that time why not even to share my experience and my feedback with other, and I started to rate on the nice places that I liked and also started to write comments and to share pictures to help other people and to give them the most of my experience in every place that I have visited.
