When I was a young boy, I once told my dad, that I wished for “a natural sized globe”. He already knew how fascinated with maps I was, and how I did love the globe we had at home.
Decades have passed and I have found my way into a career where maps are an essential, I’m a travel agent. Using maps is a key tool in my work to help my designing the most intersting adventures for my clients. Using the Google Maps products help me provide my clients with unique tools to prepare for their travels and adventures.
And the “natural sized globe” is now in my pocket! Yes, my biggest wish was eventually granted by Google! Zooming effortless between Google Streetview and Google Earth I can travel to any destination in a matter of seconds and explore, just as I am there in person.
My dad passed away a few months ago after being bound by to his wheelchair for the last 12 years of his life. But thanks to Google Cardboard and Google Streetview he and I could often “travel” to faraway places, that he wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to visit.
It’s funny how wishes come true in ways you would never have imagined!
