Have you ever been to a place you learned about in geography class and utilized google maps?
Here are some experiences of actually going there and utilizing the maps.
Wajuu(circle levee)
This is a levee surrounded by a circle, commonly seen in the Nobi Plain, which is studied in elementary and junior high schools in Japan.
They were built to protect houses and fields from the flooding of the nearby Ibigawa River.
We learned that they had been built since the 1600s.
I went to see Wajuuin Godo Town, Gifu Prefecture.

It was before the cherry blossoms bloomed, so it is a bleak scene, but it will be a very nice view when the cherry blossoms bloom.

Challenge: Share a review or photo of a monument on Google Maps
I wanted to create more opportunities to use the map to learn about the things that our predecessors devised and left behind for future generations, although they are not monuments.
It would be difficult to actually go there.

輪中
日本では小中学生で学ぶ、濃尾平野によく見られるサークル状に囲まれた堤防です。
近くの揖斐川の氾濫から家や田畑を守るために作られました。
1600年代から作られていたと学びました。
岐阜県の神戸町にある輪中を見に行きました。

桜が咲く前の時期だったので、殺風景ですが、桜が咲くととても良い景色になります。

モニュメントではありませんが先人たちが工夫して、後の世代に残していったものをマップを使って学んでいける機会を増やしたいと思いました。
実際に行くのは難しいでしょうから。
