I need to get rid of a fraduluent lake on Google Maps

So there is a listing in the middle of Manassas National Battlefield Park for a lake named “Manassas National Battlefield Park Noname Ponds.”

You can see it here: https://goo.gl/maps/fjkasepTC6kCzL3fA

I’ve hiked through that area and there no lakes, no ponds, no pools, no puddles, nothing. I tried to remove or edit it in Google Maps, but it won’t let me do anything beyond adding a photo or reviewing it. It seems to have automatically generated the listing from scraping a handful of websites that for whatever reason list those. How can I get rid of this? I’ve even talked to some of the park rangers there and they said they tried calling Google to no avail. Any help is appreciated!

Hi @FortMarmot

The place is not a listing, but an element of the map.

Towns, roads, squares, rivers, lakes, mountains, are elements of the Map Layer. Local Guides cannot edit that layer. Only Google Maps team can.

What we can do, for helping the team, is to report an error on Google Maps, through the “send a feedback” that you will find scrolling down your menu on Google Maps.

For more details you can read: Report an error on the map

Hi @FortMarmot

In addition to what @ErmesT wrote;

If you are confused about areas and items on the maps not accepting edits or photos, please enjoy this overview Shapes and Places - Guidance on where to add edits and photos including both flat and photospheres by PaulPavlinovich.
