Recently, I’ve developed a passion for cooking shows. I guess that’s what got me into sharing photos of food on Google Maps and that’s how my journey began.
But before that, I’ve always liked photography but it only remained a hobby. I’ve always wanted to learn the “art of photography” but I guess life got in the way. Or maybe I’m just too lazy for the technicalities…
As technology evolved, it became easier and more enjoyable to snap moments I want to remember only using a smartphone. If I see something I like, I take a photo. At first, it was unconscious. Some of the photos were a bit blurry, as I rushed into taking a pic, as soon as possible. The photos started piling up… Later I realized I can actually see my photos on the map and rediscover the places I liked.
Having discovered how technology can help me remember the places I like and the people and moments I care about, I kept shooting, making sure my GPS was always on. What initially was unconscious and rushed, now I try to find the best light and setting, angle, color temperature, and… the best moment. My friends always make fun of me when I want to take a photo of the coffee cup or the dish I have for brunch, but I’m happy that my photos have over 3 million views and counting.
I can only hope the photos I take help other people make good, informed choices and enjoy their experiences!
