When people comment to me that I’m a “foodie,” I ask back, “Why aren’t you one though? Why isn’t everybody one?” I love food! It’s the rawest and most natural form of happiness. Food is also the embodiment of rich beautiful stories and narratives of different cultures. Contributing to and also benefitting from the diversity of the food landscape in London is arguably my favorite thing about Google Maps, which is way more than a static 2D map. London is a melting pot of all sorts of cultures and the food here is hence a literal smorgasbord of biang biang noodles, bresaola, bahn mi, beigel, borscht, etc. (Wow that was an accidental alliteration, and yet another one!) I love exploring different cultures through the windows of their food, and that is something I love to share with others too, to help in a small way to stem the “otherization” that happens quite often now in our world, by indulging in some of the tastiest meals together.
