Ever since i
was a kid i liked looking at maps, real ones. I could look at them for hours, every few minutes realized i missed another detail, and continue exploring. When i got older, before hiking or exploring a new city, i would look at the map, memorize it to remember important monuments/buildings/curves/mountains to help me with navigation, and to avoid looking at the map to reach my destination. Obviously in many cases i would open the map in the middle, just to make sure i remembered the map correctly or to find something new to explore on the way.Google maps helped me to take it to the next level, as now i can become the map creator, either for myself/family/friends or to the
world! The fact i can add a place missing on the map, or share my experience on a new place i visited, changed the world for me, as a map lover. i’m creating maps for my colleagues on places to eat around the office, create a map before a trip to Burgundy with the route, restaurants and places to visit, and add places I’ve stumbled upon during my trip. Now, add to that the fact i love food, from street food to Michelin star food, makes this whole experience so awesome. With more than 4M views of my photos, i feel i’m really contributing and helping the community to find what they need and explore before actually visiting. Everyphoto shared and every review written is being viewed by
people that really need that information and it’s driving their decision on whether to visit, or how to experience the place they’re going to, which is a great feeling! So, keep exploring, reviewing and sharing, we’re making the world more accessible and people more knowledgeable.
Cheers,
Yossi
