When I was in the US, Google maps was my beloved guidance friend, but when I came back to Iraq I found out that there are so many missing and misplaced businesses, organization, public areas and restaurants , in such a way that if you visit as a first time tourist you can’t find most of the places you want to go on Google maps. I was disappointed because I have master degree in a computer science major and I need to do something about this. Of course there are some public places that almost everyone including taxi and bus drivers know directions very well but there are so many newly opened businesses that is not well spotted by public and pedestrians can’t see it on the street they walk on. I didn’t know that there is such a thing called Google local guides, one day one of my friends called me she was working for one of the travel agencies and told me that there are so many international travelers that come to our office telling us that they had difficult time finding this place. So I took a picture of the office and uploaded to Google maps, in a few weeks it received more than 10k views and I was really impressed that I could help so many people just by sharing a photo.
