I have a problem deleting older photos

My principal mode of contribution is photographs, of which I have posted over 10,000. Some images date back to 2012 and earlier, and some of those images are now out of date. I would like to delete some of the older images, and replace with more up to date, recently-taken photos, but every time I try to scroll back through my photos via the ‘My contributions’ tab in the menu, the page crashes and I get an ‘Aw snap’ error message. So I would be grateful if anyone out there has a solution to this problem. I use an iMac running OSX 10.12, and I don’t have either a smart phone or a tablet.

@bennonlmp One way you can try is to head to your album archive here.

Look for the old photos and delete it one by one, (you may want to download it first as a backup). It will delete that photo from all the online presence. I have done a trial earlier and it did remove my photo from Google Maps.

Try it and let us know if it works for you.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried looking through the archive, but because of its structure, I couldn’t really grasp whereabouts to look. However, I accidentally discovered a way to delete my photos from the business in question (a local pub). If you click on the photo at the top of the Google Maps sidebar, the sidebar shows all the thumbnails of the images that have been posted. If you click on a specific image, a larger version of it opens to the right. At the top left corner of this larger image is a small box containing: the business name; the photographer’s name; and the date that the image was recorded. I found that if you click on the business name, the image opens in a new tab, and gives more information about the image, including a ‘More options’ button which allows you to download the image or report abuse. But, in addition to that, if the image is one of yours, there is an additional option, which is to delete the image.

Job done. So thanks very much for letting me know about the image archive, which I must examine again in more detail.

Cheers,

Glenn.
