I am a level 7 Local Guide from India. I got invitation to apply for Connect Live 2019 but I am 18 years old. When I was checking the requirement for applying to Connect Live, then I saw that the age of the attendees must be 21 years old. And they rise rise up the requirement because 21 is the legal drinking age in the US and alcohol will be present at some events.
But I think may be alcohol will be present at some events but it is not necessary for all to drink alcohol. If I get chance to join Connect Live, I will obviously avoid alcohol. So will Google allow me to apply?
I request everyone to give their precious suggestion and tell what to do

The invitation email was sent to local guides who are at least level 5. It wasn’t filtered for those who are specifically going to be at least 21 at the beginning of the event.
Unfortunately, you will need to be of age and would be ineligible at this time.

I can understand that the attendees should be at least 21 years old. But the reason for this requirement is consumption of alcohol. But I want to say that it is obviously not necessary for an attendee to drink alcohol, but by joining the Connect Live he or she can share ideas as well as get tips to do better as a local guide.
So if google thinks more deeply, I will be obliged.

I understand that you or other attendees may choose to not consume any alcohol at the event, @parnab but unfortunately it is a US requirement for the age when there is alcohol present, which is why there isn’t much that Google can do. Again, I apologise for this.

I also got the invitation because I’m level 6 but my birthday is November 21,1998 only 9 days to be an eligible applicant. Can I apply? If cannot I just want to say you are discriminated on the people who is under 21 years old. INSTEAD of alcohol there are a lot of substitutes for drink. Why you just want to serve only alcohol? It let many adult (age 18 - almost 21) lose the opportunity to explore the world. I hope it is possible to change the rule.

Once I was born in August 08, 2001, I will be 18 years old by November 12, 2019.(The form require at least 21 years old ) For that I would like to know whether I can fill out the application for the connect live 2019 , or not . In advance , I do appreciate your anwser .

@Xavierrs sorry to say this but i guess even if you try to apply for connect live 2019 you won’t be able to get through as they have clearly mentioned that the minimum age should he 21. But you are just now turning 18. Also to be a local guide you should he 18 years old already . If you are just turning 18 by novemNov 2019 then how could you be able to reach level 6 already .

The short answer is no, you must be 21 years old by the start date of Connect Live on November 12, 2019 as per the FAQ on the website for Connect Live 2019. I’ll be merging your post with another existing one about age requirements for Connect Live.
Of note, to be eligible in the Local Guide program, you should be 18 years old already, as @VickyKrish mentioned. I know you’re really close to being 18 but this is a violation of the Terms and Conditions of the program. Thanks.
