I started to appreciate Google Maps after moving to my family home just outside of Ottawa.
It is through Google Maps that I truly began to discover the amazing community we had moved to. I found the great playground in Diceman Park that my kids loved to play at when we first moved here. When I needed to find a physiotherapist, I didn’t look further than the Blackburn Physio and Sports Injury clinic, I had seen countless times in Google Maps.
Later, as I explored the downtown area around my work, I started checking out places that for years I’d walk by every day. If I hadn’t started using Google Maps, I would have probably never tried Lemongrass Thai Cuisine, which was just a block over from my work. After more exploring I found Patterson Creek, a charming skating spot that branches off the Rideau Canal, and a Little Tree Free Library that I like exchange books from every once in a while.
Over the past years, Google Maps has helped me learn more about the place I call home, and the communities that are closest to me. In such a short time, I became so much more connected and in sync with the places I was already so familiar with. Google Maps presented me with the opportunity to rediscover places I had already known, and to explore further.
After I found new features on Google Maps, I started to share all my discoveries not only with my friends and family, but with the Local Guides community and the whole world on Google Maps. Knowing how Google Maps helped me I am eager to share with others. My journey with Google Maps started very quickly, and I am certain I will cherish every next step along the way.
