Along the St. Johns River in Florida, there are many jungle creeks, agricultural canals, and remote natural water channels. The most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide is to access these remote locations on the St. Johns River with my jet ski to capture locations never before photographed. With a jet ski, I can access places that normal boats cannot. Some of the locations are so remote, a kayak cannot reach it in one day. So when I reach these remote places, I want to share the experience with the rest of the world. I photograph these places and share the beauty of the St. Johns River wetlands on Google Maps.
Exploring remote locations on the St. Johns River is certainly interesting. Additionally, the journey to the remote locations is even more interesting. Often, there are mishaps along the way: hitting a hidden sandbar, sucking up weeds into the jet ski intake, avoiding alligators, and mechanical breakdown. I have also lost a few cameras on the river. I think they are still recording on the bottom of the river.
It takes a lot of planning and hard work to jet ski to these remote locations, but it’s all worth it when I notice my photos getting viewed by thousands of people around the world.
