Hi, I’m a Visually Impaired Local Guide and I’ve already solved a series of problems on roads in my city. But now I have a frustrating problem. I’m trying to correct the address of a friend’s house, but as I can’t see, I can’t move the marker to the exact position on the road. I’ve made several attempts to resolve this, but it seems to get worse and worse. It turns out that the name of her road is “Travessa 714”, but it is incorrectly named “Travessa One” on Maps. So far so good, I thought about creating the address “Travessa Um, 21”, to mark her house. But I can’t do that. I even ended up creating an address “Travessa Um, 21” on the map, but the marker ended up in a parking lot more than 500 meters away. The only solution I have for this is to provide the coordinates and ask someone to fix it for me. I’ll leave here the link to the place I want to correct, and the coordinates of the marker. The person who created the place ended up mixing another road together, but for now that’s not a problem. I just need someone to edit the location that I’m going to leave here via link with the coordinates I have.
The marker on this link is wrong, I would like someone to change it to the location at these coordinates:
-32.0433324, -52.1046324
The wrong marker for this link means that app drivers cannot find the house, as they stop at the corner of the alley, considering that there [and the location. Therefore, it is necessary to turn right and access ~Travessa Um~ (which I am trying to change to Travessa 714).
I hope I’m posting in the correct place on the forum. [It’s my first post and I don’t want to create a mess in the [area of the map I’m trying to correct, nor in the forum. Thanks to everyone who can help. I wrote in English for better understanding.
Please seek help with this in the Maps support forum. You need to get the street named correctly first. After that the house numbers need to be fixed.
Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. You need to attach or link to official documentation supporting the change you are proposing. Copyright-free governmental maps are probably the best proof you can attach.
Without such official documentation, you will not be successful.
I believe you do understand the difference between an address and a point off interest.
Thanks for your feedback. I think we just found the big problem. This location does not have an official postal code. A Google search reveals a paucity of information about this route, and all codes relating to it are also incorrect. Let’s face it, this is a place where residents have created settlements, perhaps even illegal housing. So it becomes very difficult to solve the problem. Where I live there were missing roads on Maps, but I was able to resolve the issue as I had the official postcode and also provided details when submitting the correction.
I think I’m trying to make a very complex contribution, since the residents of the region themselves don’t know how to explain the official name of the road. I’m trying to imagine how the postal services deal with this situation. It is as if they had dug a tunnel across a normal road without the authorities’ knowledge. Despite the problem, at least having the bookmark saved on your smartphone helps a lot. There are also rural areas in my city that have never been fully indexed. There is even a road whose name I know, but it was never accepted due to lack of evidence from the algorithm. Anyway, thank you for your time.
It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
I see. If the local authorities have not realized or accepted a new settlement this will make it more difficult to get it on Google Maps.
Two workarounds that you can try using:
Google Maps has a system to create uniq and or cise addresses in every areas. It is called plus codes. In some ar as they are widely used because they work better than other systems.
It is the royal palace in Copenhagen. It is a lot shorter than the official address. Try using plus code on Maps.
Next, it is possible to add “unnamed roads” on Maps given they are visible the satellite view. You might need to have some one help you with this.
But the best step would be to encourage or demand that the local authorities recognize the settlement and name it and give it a postcode. That will pave the way to get it properly on Maps
