You know it seems like I’m always being asked “what’s the one thing that you love about being a Local Guide” or why, or what made me start, or what keeps me passionate? But I can’t narrow it down to one thing! I love that being a Local Guide just sort of fell into my life naturally. I took some photos with my phone and lo and behold, my Maps app asked me if I wanted to post them! What? How fun! Sure! Then I noticed people were viewing them. Hmmm. A lot. And businesses that only had a couple of photos before, with very few views, now had my photos with thousands of views. What? And I thought… in my little town, wouldn’t that mean that some of those thousands of views would translate into people going to that business? Hey, I’m helping my community! Hey, I might be keeping a local business afloat. I’m helping people connect! Then I started adding places to Google Maps. And I thought, certainly this is helping… And I like to help. You see I’m a retired registered nurse. Which leads me to another reason I love being a Google Local Guide. Over the last year, say 18 months, I started walking. At first it was just a mile. Now I’m up to 9 miles! I call it wandering, lol. Because I don’t have a destination when I start out. I just go. All over my little town of Mandeville, Louisiana. And I take photos too, and visit points of interest. You guessed it! It is my favorite way to map and guide. So being a Local guide keeps changing. And growing. Keeps me fit. Keeps me young. ( I’ll be 61 next month). So what’s the one thing I love about being a Google Local Guide. I’ll let you know when I decide
