I am Local Guide and i am proud of it. My contribute to Iceland investigation.

I am really happy to be a LG. Because i value others and i feel i can be useful.

But sometimes i am thinking: what is the most interesting, valuable thing i have done as a Local Guide?

I can not only enrich my memories, not only feel self-satisfaction by shown off in Instagram how cool am I. But i can help other people. I can contribute to the society.

My trips becomes the guide and the instruction to others.

My experience becomes the direction for others, who want to get the same experience. Or even further: basing on my, as Local Guide, experience, they can get even better, more valuable experience. Being a LG, i can motivate others to become a LG too, and the better LG i am - the better LG will be my followers.

Couple of years ago i have been feeling that my life is ended. I mean - nothing dramatic, just a depression. I was a successful self-made human, who passed 100 000 km by hitch-hiking, who created and directed a successful Show-Business troupe, who visited the best places in Europe and Asia. I had a baby, a place to live. Finally i got everything i dreamed about. I didn’t feel the passion to do anything else in my life.

Visit new places? Come on, i can google the pictyres of it.

Get new experience? Come on, all experience i can get - i just buy, because all that “new” experience are prepared, packed and sold to me by people who came there earlier than me.

Create smth? Yes, i can, but why? I know already, that i can create smth really great - like my theater or my baby.

Anyway i agreed to go to walking tour to Central Iceland three years ago. And approximately before that i registered as LG.

And it was smth new.

The walking tour passed in really touristless place. New mountains, not so well developend infrastructure.

A lot of mistakes, a lit of lessons learned.

After my tour i put all my experience in LG pictures and stories. And people was really grateful to me.

People found me in FB and other medias and told me how they managed to develop their own great route basing on my pictures or my stories.

They used my experience and posted their own stories about this beautiful country.

And - magic! - i started to feel like i still can do something, like my life still have a purpose.

So i continued. And you can do either.

So stop thinking. Just go to your trip. Just share what you know about your place.

Just be the Local Guide.

An yes, for now i feel i am proud of helping people, by guiding them.
