Hello team, my name is José Mata.
I am originally from Venezuela, but 5 years ago I decided to move to Panama where I have been living and working since then. When I was living in Venezuela, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to explore and know the amazing places that my country had to offer me.
Well, let me tell you a little bit more of my story…
I moved to Panama when I was 23 years old, at first it was difficult to me to adapt to this new country since I was completely alone and did not know anyone here. The country was new to me and I never ceased to marvel at all the things I saw. I decided that I would know every corner of Panama and I have been doing it until now.
I started visiting its mountains and beaches, and every time I knew a new place I documented the whole trip taking pictures. Later I got to know the Local Guides program, which fascinated me from the beginning by giving me the opportunity to share with the world the experiences I was collecting during my trips. At the beginning I did not understand very well how it worked, but when I received my first mail from Google Maps indicating me that my photos had been seen almost 300 times, I was very excited and I continued contributing.
Today, I am Local Guide Level 7 and I have uploaded almost 1000 photos, which have been seen almost 400,000 times, this only motivates me to continue working for the community.
