I always trying to make Google maps a better place but

Hi all,

I work hard editing and adding places on the map especially new businesses and support local small ones but it always gets rejected. Duplicated places, relocating, closed, and doesn’t exist works on a 3-40% scale. The rate of my approved edits dropped because of these rejections and even though I see everything and witness new open stores, google maps still doubt my information. I don’t know who should I go to help especially I am a Local guide 8. I think it should at least consider my contributions as legit.

Please advise, I am getting tired and sad.

Hello @Akaharby

Appreciate your efforts to support small businesses and understand your frustration.

Nevertheless, I suggest you please go through the help desk article Why my edit is pending or not applied to know more about the edit approval process.

However, to see that the new places appear on Maps and the data is correct, you can take the following actions.

  1. Request the owner to initiate action through Google My Business. That provides authenticity to the information.

  2. If the owner is not reachable, you can present the case here and tag any Google Moderator.

  3. Create a post in the community pages of the Maps support forum. If the data presented by you is found to be adequate, then the experts on the forum can help you to escalate the case.

Nevertheless, through these actions, you may not get any credit in points. However, you will get recognition for ensuring that the data in Maps is up to date.

so I have a couple of venues I have been trying to add to the map for about 4 months and everytime it gets rejected. Any recommendations? @C_T

Hello, @Akaharby

You have not mentioned from which region you are.

If the GMB program is available in your region, then requesting the owner to arrange for place creation through the GMB program becomes the most credible way to do so.

thanks a lot @C_T

For now, I participate in Saudi Arabia. There is indeed GMB but it is more difficult rather than helpful. I have a lot of business’ owners who asked me and I told them to claim the businesses but the verification method, mail a post with a code, is not working properly. They have been waiting for the post forever. Like one owner has a complete change of his cafe plus moved like 10 meters from his previous place, and now he wants to close the old one and start a completely new location. He couldn’t do that especially the business name still the same but a way different design and theme.

Hello @Akaharby

Thanks for the update.

However, if GMB is functional, then the owners should first seek update through the GMB dashboard

If that gets rejected for some reason, then let them make a post on the community pages of the GMB support forum

The experts there will help in escalating the issues.
