Supporting small businesses with Google Maps
My favorite way of supporting small businesses and local shops is by adding them to Maps, uploading beautiful photos and videos, and writing a detailed review.
Business doubles and more staff is hired
Five months after doing so for Roti & Cha Cha Station, the owner reports his business doubled. He hired three new people to keep up with the demand.
About Roti & Cha Cha Station
I first stumbled upon Roti & Cha Cha Station 7 months ago. It was a small stand, popular with neighborhood locals. But, there was no information about the business on Maps.
Roti & Cha Cha Station serves Muslim cuisine, including fresh and delicious coconut-filled roti, Thai tea, wood-fired oven roti, and curries.
The shop’s owner, Siddiq, lost his job at a nearby hotel due to the pandemic. He opened his small business with his wife.
Google Maps increases visits by tourists and out-of-towners
After my add to Google Maps, Siddiq says his business has doubled, he has added 3 employees, and there has been a spike in tourists who say they found him on Google Maps.
VIDEO
In the video, Siddiq shares his experience and success thanks to Maps. And, he gives me a cooking lesson on how to make roti.
