The Yamuna is not just a river—it is an important part of Delhi’s natural environment, cultural heritage and urban life.
As Local Guides, we have an opportunity to look at the Yamuna from a sustainability perspective and understand how nature, people, culture and the city are interconnected.
This meet-up will be an informal exploration of the Yamuna and its surroundings, with a special focus on Sustainable Development and meaningful Google Maps contributions. Our meeting point will be the main entry gate of Vasudev Ghaat.
There is a special connection behind choosing Vasudev Ghat for this meet-up.
In June 2025, @Gvipin hosted a meet-up at Vasudev Ghat, which was attended in person by @Ssiddharth2000, @Hemendu, @Nomad_Enkay, @Rajan and @deepakjhic.
Unfortunately, I could not join that meet-up because of some prior commitments.
More than a year later, I’m happy to return to the same place for a meet-up, looking at Vasudev Ghat and the Yamuna through the lens of sustainability and Google Maps contributions.
It will be interesting to see the place again, observe what has changed, and think about what we can contribute to Google Maps today that can make this place more useful and discoverable for others.
What will we do?
During the meet-up, we will:
Explore & Map – Identify places, facilities and points of interest around the river that are missing or need improvement on Google Maps.
Capture & Contribute – Take useful, authentic photographs that can help people better understand the area and its surroundings.
Observe & Document – Look at the river ecosystem, public spaces, access points, ghats and other features that contribute to the area’s identity.
Think Sustainability – Discuss issues such as river conservation, biodiversity, cleanliness, responsible tourism and sustainable use of public spaces.
Connect Nature & Culture – Explore how the Yamuna has influenced Delhi’s history, traditions, communities and urban development.
Learn from Each Other – Share ideas on how Local Guides can use their contributions on Google Maps to support awareness, accessibility and sustainable communities.

I received these beautiful pins during ConnectLIVE Singapore, and I’m excited to share them with fellow Local Guides through our meet-ups. I have already started distributing these pins from the Namaste India Summit. This initiative will continue until all the pins I received have found their way to deserving Local Guides.
