When I was in high school @ Győr I’ve worked as an event photographer. That was the time when I’ve started contributing to Google Maps, as a Local Guide. I saw, that a lot of businesses, that they didn’t have a claimed Business Page, or most of the businesses doesn’t have a good photos about their interior. So, as a photographer, I feel a part of my duty, to post the photos what I took those places.
Next, I took it to the next level. I helped a newly opened restaurant, to create their Business Page, took interior photos, updated the opening hours, and answered the questions, that people asked.
Later, I found myself correcting other businesses metadata, opening hours, uploading pictures on the go, and answering customer questions.
I realized, I’ve fallen into a really good gamification trap. I really appreciate the effort, that Google put in the Local Guide program.
I let myself follow the flow. There was one time, when I was with my girlfriend, and we found a narrow path, that a lots of people used, to go cross the block quicker, however, the path was not on Google Maps. So I made a feedback of the missing road, and a month later, a the narrow path appeared on the Maps, you can check it now!
After if finish the high school, I moved to Hungary’s capital, Budapest. There are a lot more places to check here, so you can spend a lot of time contributing on Google Maps,. I worked in the summer on a sight-seeing cruise, it was absolutely the best job, thatI’ve ever did.
Lately, I’ve got into food - mostly burger - photography. Obviously, beside photography, I really like good hamburgers. You can check my Best Burger Places listhere.
Thanks for the reading, I hope you find my story interesting, have a nice day,Máté
