Hi, I’ve seen several entries on Google Maps that are not actually locations that can be accessed as they are in fact located in sensitive military facilities without any access to the general public. Some of them are not even businesses but rather things like the base’s logistical center or dining facility, with fake names based on the local slang. Most of these have reviews that are clearly people messing around and writing humorous and misleading reviews. I’ve tried reporting them as “not open to the public” multiple times but the edits haven’t been applied, and neither there nor in the “other” category is there any possibility of elaborating. I see that two of the places have some reviews that have replies by the “owners” - does that mean that someone somehow managed to claim those locations and “verify” that they actually exist? What options are there to get these locations removed?
Hi @micha_1
If you see a reply from the owner of a fake pin it has been claimed by the spammers, and it might be difficult for you to remove the places.
Feel free to create a list with notes with fake places and I will be happy to escalate it further. You can also just add them in a reply below.
Also, please note that using “not open to the public” is not the correct way to remove fake places. “Does not exist here” is better.

You may need to point out where the jokes are since it could need special language or cultural insights to detect.

Thanks! I didn’t go for that one at first because the places don’t quite not exist at all, they’re just not as described in the listing (and as mentioned, not open to the public, only those with access to the facilities in question).
I tried to find a way to send you the current locations in question, but I saw a “contact me” section on the profile that just mentioned being online but had no option for any further action or sending a message - am I missing something? I’m not familiar with this site. Edit: never mind, it’s showing up now. Will send momentarily.
Hi @micha_1
Thanks for the pm.
It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.
I will forward the 3 links for a check. I’m unable to evaluate the issue myself.
Thanks
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen Noted. I assumed the reply button would do that. Thanks!

Viola a seguinte política do Google
"*Places you can’t add to the map
Details about military/sensitive establishments such as: ammunition bases, missile depots, military barracks, or nuclear power plants that are not publicly known or can’t be found on an official or government website."
Adicione o link dessa política e complemente com mais informações que você entender necessário, inclusive informe que não existe.
Sucesso
