Humedales urbanos de Bogotá

Los humedales han formado parte de la sabana de Bogotá hace miles de años y son el resultado de la desecación paulatina del gran lago que en alguna vez cubrió la sabana; por las funciones que desempeñan en los ciclos hidrológicos y químicos, se les conoce como “riñones del medio natural”, ya que tienen la capacidad de regular el caudal de los ríos y quebradas que los abastece evitando inundaciones, pueden mejorar la calidad del agua mediante diversos organismos detritívoros, plantas y microorganismos, además permiten la recarga de acuíferos subterráneos. Hacen parte de la Estructura Ecológica Principal de la ciudad conformada por los cerros orientales, el valle aluvial del río Bogotá y la planicie, sin embargo muchos fueron inmersos en la matriz urbana, quedando aislados y con muy baja conectividad; a pesar que han sido fuertemente transformados, aún conservan gran parte de la biodiversidad de la capital siendo hábitat de especies endémicas y migratorias.

Hi, thanks for your advice, the description that I made for the photo is related with environmental issues of this ecosystems, I put the place were the photo was taken in an option before publish but I see that it doesn’t appear. Maybe for the next posts I will consider to translate the description.
