Huge brass lamps

Lamp inside the temple. On the background is Koothambalam, with all copper top roof. Here dance and music sessions are performed.

Lamp outside at the entrance of Vadukkunathan temple, Trichur.

See the base of the Lamp where a tortoise is depicted. At the top you can notice a small bull (called Rishaba). Ladders are used for lighting the various points of lamps.

Thank you.

Trichur name coined by British who were unable to pronounce most of Indian names;

Thrissur - called by natives.

Originally it was called as ‘Thrisivaperur’.

Almost all big temples are called as ‘Parasurama (Rishi / Avatar) Kshetra’ (temple) because he built many temple. It is he who reclaimed land from sea and donated to Kshatriyas.

See the name board in Thrissur Railway Junction written Malayalam.
