How Your Random Selfies Can Become Someone’s Guide!

What Local Guides means to me?

For me, local guide is admiring to help others in a fun way :man_dancing: . You get to share your experience, knowledge and information with others in the way that you like; you can write, post photos or even make videos. In the end, you’re sharing something that would be appreciated by your fellow local guides.

As a frequent traveler and a travel planner, I am always excited to discover other countries, cultures and get to try different cuisines. The obstacle that I faced the most regarding any travel plans, especially in exotic destinations, was the limited and outdated information regarding attractions, restaurants and other important things like border check points, bus stops, etc.

I started using Local Guides Connect every time I wanted to travel and explore a new city. It helped me find recent and informative reviews and information for what might not be easy to find online. Most importantly, it was also very useful for me to read about other people’s experience such as how the service was, waiting time, prices, do’s and don’ts.

If you travel a lot and love exploring, you’ll find that a lot of attractions, sights and restaurants might have outdated information or reviews. Consequently, posting a random selfie you took somewhere can sometimes be very useful and helpful to someone as it might be their only updated source of how the place looks like and whether the place is still active or not.

Having local guides writing their updated and recent experience, I became very attentive to what posts others add and I found it very helpful to get to know reviews and instructions from both locals and travelers. What makes it better is when people add photos or videos to support their review. The friendly competition in Local Guides Connect is amazingly exciting as it drives people to write more, add more take more photos and I believe that Local Guides Connect has deeply influenced lots to contribute more!

Hello @M_Aref ,

You may be new on Connect or writing to share a post for your Connect Live application. If you’re applying to Connect Live be sure to share a link to a new Connect post responding to this year’s application prompts. You can find everything you need to know about writing a post for Connect Live 2020 by taking a look at the guidelines. You can also check How to write a great application post for Connect Live 2020 and Your guide to creating lists on Google Maps.

P.S.: Keep in mind that one of the requirements is to share your post on the Local Stories board. I’ve moved your post there.

Hi Anya!
Yes that’s me! I took it last year in my trip to Philippines! It was really something very special getting to swim next to this huge creature! Thank you so much and I’m glad you like it!

Hi @TsekoV ,

Thanks a lot for your help!
I saw that you moved my post to local stories, which is one of the requirements.

Kindly let me know if there’s anything else I should do before copying this link post and pasting it into the application.

I already answered the second prompt, do I have to put the prompt question in the title of the post?

Thank you!
