Hi @Hariskhan488

I see hiw your 360 image uploaded to https://maps.app.goo.gl/Qjd47Z2ctGbej5pj8 is not showing correctly.

Did you change the dimensions of the image? Width should be 2 times the height.

Cheers

Morten

No, I didn’t change any things and the picture is still a 360 one in the x3 app. And yes the width seem like correct

It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.

Please share the steps you use to upload individual 360 images to existing places on Google Maps.

I hope

@potaro67 will advise you since he is a real champ when it comes to 360 on Google Maps.

Cheers

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for responding and would appreciate if @potaro67 could help.

I exported the picture to my gallery from the x3 app and then
I uploaded the 360 Picture as i upload any other picture through the google map application. I use an iPhone.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the picture as when i try uploading the same picture to facebook in the preview i can see it’s a 360 picture facebook detect it however on the map it show as flat image.

Thanks

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for calling me.

@Hariskhan488 I also saw the picture of the URL that Morten posted. Certainly, your photo is treated as a flat photo.
If possible, could you send me your photo files using Dropbox, etc.?

The pictures are taken out from Insta 360 x3 camera.
and I specifically bought it to take a good 360 picture and upload it to Google Maps.

I used Google Maps on my PC’s Chrome, opened the hotel’s POI, and uploaded your photo from that screen.

Just to be sure, I modified your photo a bit and then uploaded the modified photo in the same location as above.

As mentioned above, I found that your JPEG is a photo that can be uploaded normally in my environment even if I upload the file you sent me as is.
You need to think again about what is the cause of the trouble you are facing, detailed verification of your upload method, and the possibility of temporary system trouble.

Brilliant test, @potaro67

I even identified the tiny change you made

I understand the second potential cause you mentioned: Connectivity.

But the first about “detailed verification of your upload method” would you care to elaborate a bit? Are you suggesting he might not be logged in, or that he should try from a Laptop, or select the pin and not the photo first, or are you hinting that his profile (trust) could be an issue?

All the best

Thank you @MortenCopenhagen
I do not rule out all possibilities. Regarding the symptoms he is facing this time, the trouble may occur in his environment but never in my environment.
He should have done many uploads correctly by now. Therefore, he has the most information to investigate the cause of this trouble.
Therefore, he himself can find the cause by verifying each difference from the upload method so far.

If this trouble did not occur even if he performed the same operation again, it is reasonable to assume that the reason was that some kind of accidental failure occurred in the system.

And all I’ve shown in my experiments is the fact that the photos that caused trouble in his environment didn’t cause trouble in mine.

@potaro67 Thank you for giving it a try.

I am gonna try it out from different devices such as from my MacBook and an android device and see how it goes.

I will be updating you.

Thanks

Thank you @potaro67 & @MortenCopenhagen

After Testing, I realize picture uploaded from my iPhone gets treated as flat picture however when I upload the same picture from either MacBook or from my android it shows in 360.

Here are a few examples:
Uploaded from iPhone: https://goo.gl/maps/cqMsWkfbCKCYLcJC9

The same picture from an android devices uploaded but treated as 360
Uploaded from Android: https://goo.gl/maps/riVdxRRM4HMdLb1N7

A few more examples

uploaded from an iPhone ( getting treated as flat image ) :
https://goo.gl/maps/Me5N8LXruW6tFH6F6

the same picture but from MacBook :
https://goo.gl/maps/KysX9jkXPoDmxR2a9

It’s not a solution but now we know why my picture was treated flat picture.

I will be uploading 360 either from my PC or an android phone until google fix the issue on iPhone map.

Thank you.

Thanks for experimenting with different environments.
If so, if you raise this topic in a community where there are many iPhone users (iPhone Google map app users), many people may understand the symptoms.
