How to report someone soliciting fake Google Maps reviews?

Out of the blue on facebook this person asked me to do a fake positive review on Google Maps. Where do I report it?

In my experience Google will not investigate if you don’t have the Connect or Maps ID of the cheater, @AlexanderChalkidis .

Maybe @InaS knows better.

Makes sense but maybe here we could start a list so we are at least all aware of the names involved.

It would be very helpful if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply. Just hitting Reply does not ensure we get notified by email.

I fear creating such a list could put us in legal trouble if we publicly accuse someone of wrongdoing and it is not correct.

@MortenCopenhagen if we do it like I just did, ie screenshot exactly what they wrote when soliciting the fake review, I don’t see how we can get into legal trouble. It’s not as if it’s unclear what the message is about! Facebook is really terrible at enforcing any kind of fake profile policies, so reporting the profile there won’t achieve anything.

But I guess you are right.

I don’t think you did anything wrong. My concern was an elaborate list where anyone could accuse anyone of wrongdoing.

Also, I wanted to add that Google is taking legal action against a bad actor for deceiving and scamming consumers. This lawsuit is an example of the commitment to keep Google Maps abuse free.

Keep in mind that for privacy reasons, I’m removing the Facebook profile from your post.
