How to report obvious AI error

I got automatical denial of several changes, so many that I can’t count them anymore.

I believe I lost all credentials from AI trying to correct many obvious errors that all and 1 were so obvious that I’m deeply saddened how this program became insensitive for real initiative and contributors…

last time…

I try to rectify category of an object that name is Volleyball Club XY, from Sport School to Volleyball Club and get instant denial with no option to report an error!

Please, how to report such an error!

Hi @VlLo !

It may happen that by continuing to send changes that are not approved, the AI may put the account in a sort of temporary blacklist, to avoid an excess of further submissions, or that the activity is, in the meantime, claimed by the legitimate owner and therefore further changes are not really taken into consideration.

You should however tag a Google moderator who will examine your case in more detail!

Bye,
David

Hello @VlLo

I understand your frustration.

However, there isn’t anything that one can do to report unexplained behaviour of the AI.

My experience is:

  1. Once an edit is rejected it’s better to forget that and move on to another POI.

Repeated attempts at the same place may get treated as spamming and would deteriorate the trust score.

  1. Category changes within the same broad subgroup are the most difficult to get an acceptance.

In the case cited by you, both the categories belong to sports activity and possibly the AI is treating that as an insignificant change.

@VlLo

In addition to what has already been shared by others in response to your post, please be aware that POI on Google Maps can have one single primary category and multiple secondary categories. When the category label “Volleyball Club” is already tagged as a secondary category for this location, then indeed the “edit suggestion” (although obvious) may be rejected by the system.

Is this POI claimed?
Does it have many reviews?
Does it have a website?

When a POI has a website, the actual keyword score for that website also has an impact on the verification process (data points related to Google Search engine).

Feel free to share some places where you are struggling and give us some details, so we can analyze the situation and perhaps give you some advise how to proceed.

But I also agree with @C_T , that sometimes you simply have to move on and perhaps come back at it later.

Best wishes,

JeroenM

As a former RL from GMM, and for over 12 years in GM contributor, I’m more than average LG aware of all the background data involved.

This all doesn’t rectify the fact that GM AI allows spam, false advertising, etc. and does not have a feedback option for more than qualified and more then once approved and verified users.

I myself helped to more than one business to verify its claim but also found out many loopholes and found out about how false businesses can claim inexistent POI’s.

As an RL I had an option to give a real live person verifiable feedback about false claims and wrongly merged data… LG’s are now in position of only supplying AI with data and no power to really contribute with genuine verification process. It all diminishes quality of GM data offered to end users and solution seekers. It all deeply saddens me and led to significant fall in my contributions. I believe it is the case with many good contributors. Hope to see GM editing improved from where it is now…
