How to remove old reviews not from the current location from Google Maps?

Hi all, first time using this as a forum to ask a question.

There is a restaurant in Madrid which closed almost one year ago (reviews average around 3.6*), and it was showing as closed in Maps. 3 months ago or so it reopened with a new owner but keeping the same name from the outside. I created a new location as the concept is quite opposite from the old one and they should be penalized by the bad reviews from previous location.

New reviews were in, but i don’t know how, now the reviews from the old location are being merged to the new maps location. Which it is the process to remove them? It is a new restaurante with an average 4,9* rating, and now it has around 3.7*

Thanks for your guidance team!

This means that someone suggested a merge (duplicate place) @JavierLC

It is correct to open a new business but, as it is using the same location of the old one, you should have edited the old one as closed, on the meantime.

It will be very difficult also for Google, in this very moment, to separate the old reviews from the new ones, @DeniGu

@JavierLC Very interesting. This brings up another point. A review that is over six months old, might not be a valid review. I have found that a large number of restaurants in my area, frequently change their menu and no longer have entrees that have reviews on Google Maps.

In the future, I wonder if I should delete my old reviews?

Nice post. Thanks for sharing.

Hi @JavierLC

You should ask in Google My Business Help community because it’s a problem of business owner, not a Local Guides:

https://support.google.com/business/community

Only the business owner (an owner of business listing in Google My Business) can ask for separate businesses and reviews. So, the best solution is to talk to the business owner of the restaurant. Help him with verification in GMB (if it has not been done) and ask for help in GMB Help community.

Regards,

Jacek

Hello @JavierLC

You can flag all such reviews choosing violation type “Conflict of interest” & hope to get those pulled down.

Thanks a lot for your feedback and suggestions, will take it with the business owner so he can try leading the change. Hopefully they can be pulled out as there is over 6 months period without reviews + the inside of the local is pretty different now.

I am active on the Maps side, but it is great to see the community expands in this forum!
